The photograph is a frame from the three channel video installation “While we were there”, directed by Anna Costa e Silva. While we were there is a reflection about the ordinary surrealisms of day to day life and relationships that might be established. Three actors are invited to improvise in parties of two, in the same space, having as a starting point each one’s life experiences and relationships. There are no defined characters or narrative, only some issues that the artist asked them to think about. The three relationships that are established in the bedroom, by the parties of two, result in three separate videos that exist in the same space. The images and dialogues are repeated and rearranged as the dynamics change by the different parties. Windows, chickens, dinosaurs, death pulses, nostalgia, existential crisis, water leaks, Christmas light and telemarketing calls co-exist with no hierarchy, on an incessant search for what it means to be with another person.
