Kaoru Mansour — Black Napkin and Pear

Kaoru Mansour is a native of Japan working as a painter in Los Angeles. She moved to California in 1986 and studied at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles 1987-1989. Her artwork has varied over the last ten years, ranging from geometric abstract paintings on paper to her more recent botanical collage elements on wooden panels. Delicately colored organic forms are covered with twenty to thirty different layers of encaustic, which gives her work a rich and highly textured appearance. Her recent images connect images of plants with abstract makings to add a simple but abstract affect.  She focuses on simple pieces that integrate graphic and organic expressions. 

Here we have a black napkin and pear delicately colored with organic forms of 20-30 different layers of encaustic. This gives the painting a rich, highly textured appearance. She added colored circles and ink markings to the panel to enhance the fundamental beauty.
