One Voice, One Heart, One Song Custom Skateboard by: Jono Doiron

Winning Bid: $500.00

‘One Voice, One Heart, One Song’ custom painted skateboard by : Jono Doiron

Image Description:

“This painting was created for ‘The Canadian Cinema Art Show’, a group exhibit I curated and collaborated on with Hashtag Gallery for their program in September 2018. I chose to do a tribute to the 1983 feature length animated film, ‘Rock & Rule’, by Canadian animation giant, Nelvana Ltd. It is uniquely hand painted on a skateboard because I liked the vertical orientation and wanted the image to resemble old movie posters.

The plot of the film takes place in a nuclear future centered around an aging rock star, Mok, who wants to conduct the ultimate stage theatrics by raising a demon!  A young woman’s singing voice from a fledgling rock band holds the missing component to the invocation’s success. He’s determined to enlist her – or else!”

Artist Bio:

Jono Doiron started drawing at a young age and does not remember a time when he didn’t want to be an artist or have a strong appreciation for characters and cartoons. His earliest memories of art consist of watching cartoons and studying comics in the newspaper. Originally, Jono had plans to become a newspaper cartoonist and drew original comic strips he would photocopy, staple and divvy out to friends. After high school, Jono’s focus shifted to a career in animation and in September 2004, he was enrolled in a three year animation and fine arts program which taught him painting, drawing, sculpture and anatomy.

After graduating in 2007, Jono worked as an animator and cleanup artist on shows such as ‘Johnny Test’, ‘Busytown Mysteries’ and ‘Razzberry Jazzberry Jam’. In 2009, is focus shifted to pursue painting while combining his love of cartoons, humor and storytelling. His work has since been exhibited in galleries across North America. Today, Jono calls himself a freelance illustrator and fine artist creating work for exhibitions, companies and private clients. His work is held in private collections in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany. In 2017, he was featured on The Space Channel as a notable artist to watch.
