Description

“Love Love Love,” Doug Argue, 2019

Estimated Value: $1,200

Doug Argue’s painting career has culminated in a striking body of abstract work that encompasses a diversity of mediums and formats. His compositional approach extends to both spatial construction and figural depiction in an oeuvre that lyrically conjures metaphors and art-historical references to the past and present.  His art has been the   subject of many museums and he has been the recipient of multiple awards.

Here we have a painting of a recent piece where he works with fluid orchestrations of biometric forms and shapes.  Spontaneous gestural swaths of color are swept over different pictorial depths and sauces suggesting movement instability and the passage of time. Argue explores abstract paragraphs, sentences, and words compose and decompose into one another.
