Andrew Da Silva is an urban artist from Montreal, inspired by 90’s cartoons, comics and graffiti. He hopes to make the old new again by revamping old school cartoon aesthetics with modern day art sensibilities to create his own language. With the use of vibrant hues and unique expressions he has gathered a large recognition worldwide.
Here we have a painting that is an old school revamp of a cartoon aesthetic. His monster toons appear to be quite inviting, but upon closer inspection you can see cracks, open wounds and funny facial expressions. The hopeful but downtrodden smile appears to be their everyday expression of trying to make the best of life. “Brody” is one of Andy’s Monster toon paintings world-wide.
